Client reported blue screen appeared while watching TV. Restarting Comcast box fixed it. Kept happening more often; switching the AVR from BDP back to Cable also fixes it.

Here are the suspects:

Comcast box, HDMI out to...

Integra .2 series receiver, HDMI out to...

SnapAV single cat pre HD-BASE-T extender...

Samsung LED TV.

System has been flawless for four years.

I have crimped the RJ45 connectors, standard type.
I put an HDM JR Ethereal device in line for test.

Problem just surfaced a couple days ago but persists.

Could be the Integra, but when they fail, it is always NO PICTURE; never seen a blue screen failure.

Leaning towards a Comcast box.

Switching to blu-ray, that picture appears quickly and normally. Switch back to cable and all is well there, too. Appears to be a handshake issue?

How often does the blue screen occur? As a test you could eliminate the receiver and go direct between cable box and extender. Better yet, connect directly between cable box and TV. "Blue screen" is not something that I've seen on Samsung TV's. If they are upset about the input, they'll throw up a message.

Will the Snap or Integra throw a blue screen if there is an input issue?

i agree -- probably the Comcast box needs a "truck roll" (with the box under a tire). [To Comcast: "It's not my fault, I don't understand how this happened, the box just ran out in front of my truck."]

Doesn't integra do the blue screen? Isn't a .2 in the bad HDMI models?

You have a quad-fecta going on. Comcrap box, integra. 2, single cat extender, Samsuck TV. That system sounds like it was on borrowed time from the beginning. 😅

The integra is probably eligible for repair under warranty

Never seen a blue screen with a failed HDMI board. Have you?

I was thinking that when my personal 70.2 went bad it gave me a blue screen. But thinking back, I believe the blue screen was when it was trying to upconvert component or composite to HDMI.

Usually if the Integra fails to pass HDMI, the TV will display the HDMI input and tell you to check signal cables. That has been my experience. All the inputs of course are HDMI, so in this system there is no upconversion.

The tricky part is trying to nail it in less than five trips. I am thinking about swapping the Comcast box, then putting some HD base T extenders in place. Or vice versa…

My guess is its the integra, with the bad TI chipset.

Simple test. take integra our of the chain. run cable box directly to TV.

Its the integra though, IMO. Common issue of the time.

Can you set the input on the HDMI to Through? No processing? You might be able to fix it if this setting is available. Onkyo is the same way.
